THE ART FOR ACTION CAMP HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO REALLY ROUGH WEATHER ON THE PLATEAU!

The vigil will continue as always, regardless of weather, but the dirt road down to the campsite may be treacherous right now. We’ll be posting the new dates ASAP!

ArtCampFlyer

Join us for 5 days of art creation on the East Tavaputs Plateau. We’ll have workshops on mask-making, photography, guerrilla theater, banner making, prop making, and more. Come and build your skills while also creating amazing artwork the campaign

can use all season!

We’ll also have discussion circles on how art can be used in creative interventions that challenge power, and the other important roles art plays in social movements. We’ll have discussions on climate justice and countering oppression within the movement. And of course, lots of hiking opportunities!

Have a skill to share? Let us know! Musical instruments and fireside poetry are also most welcome.

Arrive any time starting May 22! You can come late or leave early if need be.

If you wish to attend art camp, please email Volunteers@PeacefulUprising.org for directions, info about camp norms, and answers to any of your questions.

The site is about 4.5 hours from Salt Lake City, where tar sands resisters are launching an ongoing protest vigil to halt the tar sands mine. If you need a ride, we may have space in a van leaving from SLC. We also strive to provide travel support to those who need it when possible, and we prioritize people from marginalized groups–so please let us know if you are interested in a travel scholarship. If you can make a donation to help others get to art camp, that is also most welcome!

Bring your tent and other gear, like warm clothes (it can still be cold at night in May). At least two vegetarian/vegan meals a day will be provided, but bring lunch and snack food.
